Track #3: Republic Goods @Arts District
Here’s a place for people who want to own other people’s things. (Image: Vegas 411)
Have you ever wanted to own a consignment store but don’t have the resources to pull it off? At Republic Goods in the Arts District, you can easily “turn your closet into cash.” Of course, not everything in your wardrobe will necessarily sell—the store “encourages quality new and used pieces.”
There’s no catch. Simply fill out a form on their website, choose a Saturday, and pony up $35 to reserve one of their 79 open wood closets that are 29” wide with three shelf areas where you can display shoes, bags, home goods, and more (no electronics, I was told during a recent visit).
Quirky booths are the ones that stand out. (Image: Vegas 411)
Show up on Saturday to set up your booth between 9-11 am. You’ll be given “hangers, tags, and markers.” Return the following Saturday between 8-8:30 am to collect payment on the items that have sold—the store keeps one third—and retrieve what hasn’t moved. You can also return throughout the week to restock and adjust pricing. Check out their Instagram to learn more about the process. Thanks to owner Noel Hurst (an ex-Zappos employee), it’s all ultra-efficient.
The bustling Republic Goods opened this past March and looks to be a success. It features mainly women’s stuff, so c’mon guys—step it up and level the playing field. I’m always looking for secondhand Rag & Bone pieces
