What do the Simpsons have to do with Super Bow LVIl? While America's favorite animated family has had some memorable episodes after The big game, no one could have expected them to affect the big game like they did this year. In fact, a meme making its way around social media seemed to show the Simpsons predicting the winner of the Super Bowl to be the Cincinnati Bengals by a score of 34-31.
More on that later, but it is first important to address the fact that the meme was heavily edited and the pictures were taken from various Simpsons episodes. The fact check didn’t reach everybody in time though and experts are claiming that some gamblers used this prediction to place their bets. If true, that’s a lot of people betting on misinformation and taking it as fact.
The Los Angeles Rams came in as four-point favorites over the Cincinnati Bengals and come out victorious with a score of 23-20. That means the Bengals fans got burned twice tonight. Once when their defense gave up two penalties in the closing minutes of the game, and the second time when they realized that their sure thing didn’t come true.
