Track #2: STAR Las Vegas @ Arts District

New retail store STAR Las Vegas fits perfectly into the Arts District, billing itself as a place where “fashion, art and music collide.” Located at the intersection of Charleston Blvd and Main St, the shop is the creation of four people: John Spreitzer (who built it), his wife Karen (who brings her hippy/bohemian style), Leslie Crichton-Mastronardi (who supplies the glam rock & roll edge), and her husband Jimi Mastronardi (known for his rock & roll art and memorabilia collection). Their combined tastes light up this irresistible space filled with plenty of neon-cool swagger and NYC/East and West Village-style grooviness.

At STAR, there’s carefully curated rock & roll clothing for sale, mostly women’s wear, including colorful faux fur coats and sequined dresses, plus “bohemian/hippie clothing and accessories with a hint of country western styles,” says Leslie. And “if you’re headed to a festival like EDC or Burning Man,” she adds, we have you covered.”  Try something on and show it off on the store’s colorful runway. Everyone’s a star here.

You can buy all types of vintage rock & roll memorabilia, stage-worn clothing, and licensed band apparel at the back of the store. Notably, STAR sells rare framed and signed photos by legendary rock photographer/Vegas resident Neal Preston. There’s also a performance stage for “upcoming and established musicians and bands to come and play,” says Leslie. “We provide the drums, guitar, speakers, mics, sound equipment, keyboards, etc.  Bands practice as well as perform here on a regular basis.”
