'LIOZ SHOW' at Orleans is Silly, Stupid, and Funny
America's Got Talent alumnus spoofs Criss Angel and Carrot Top in prop-comedy magic show...
Faux-goth magician Criss Angel is often targeted by comics, colleagues, and critics (myself included). His show at Planet Hollywood Resort is ranked as one of the worst on the Strip. And while some of us wish his disappearing act would become permanent, Angel's overly-serious persona is perfect for skewering. Enter Lioz Shem Tov, known to millions as just "Lioz".
Israel native Lioz bills himself as "The Greatest Mentalist of All Times", promising to take the world by storm with his superpowers. Clearly, he's a comedian. Armed with a straight face, overly dramatic gestures, and a stage filled with shopworn props, Lioz moves rapidly from one failed trick to another. But unlike Luxor prop comic Carrot Top, Lioz doesn't seem to be in on the joke.
Decks of cards, cheap plastic wristwatches, dolls, spoons, magic wands, and paper bags get a lot of mileage in LIOZ SHOW. The America's Got Talent Season 13 finalist often stares out at the audience, puzzled at the laughter his "amazing feats" generate. When mind-reading tricks go awry, "It's YOUR fault. You are wrong".

The adults-only show is peppered with mildly-racy humor, and attendees should be prepared to participate. Those in the front rows might find themselves blindfolded, dressed in ridiculous costumes, or even covered in tissues and Silly String....which is an apt metaphor for the show itself. Silly, fluffy, and easily brushed away. The reaction of you and your friends to LIOZ SHOW may vary greatly. AGT fans are likely to get the most mileage, despite having seen most of the same gags on TV and YouTube. I found the show to be short, sweet, and funny, despite a number of eye-rolling moments. Starring...Criss Angel. LIOZ SHOW plays at The Venue inside Orleans Hotel Casino Thursday through Monday at 8 pm. Audience members must be eighteen or over. Tickets start at $19.95 (plus taxes/fees) and can be reserved here.
