Revered family-operated Italian restaurant is back after much-needed expansion...

It's been five months of hard work and anticipation. Now, a favorite family-operated eatery is back. D'Agostino's Trattoria at 4155 S. Buffalo near Flamingo reopens on November 11th. It's double the size and boasts a sleek new look. Dedicated patrons couldn't be happier.

You might remember VEGAS 411 referencing D'Agostino's Trattoria in our profile of the wonderful Donny Thompson. Mr. Thompson is instrumental in the success of JOI Jazz Orchestra. Here's an excerpt:

"In addition to launching Cathy's Corner two years ago, Donny also helps his brother and sister-in-law with marketing at D'Agostino's Trattoria, an intimate but highly revered Italian restaurant. Engineering a post-COVID marketing strategy for the family-operated restaurant led to the announcement of a second, larger location in Boca Park."

Mr. Thompson was motivated to step in when D'Agostino's previous operators wanted to shutter it and retire. "You operate a business to sell it, not to close it. Selling is when you make your money", he told VEGAS 411.

Dan and Brandi Thompson

With that in mind, Donny's brother Dan and sister-in-law Brandi took over and expanded the restaurant's success...so much that they were turning people away nightly. It was clear that the twelve-table restaurant needed a larger footprint. When the opportunity came to knock out the walls and add an adjacent business to the dining area, the owners took the initiative.

One Seven Agency prepared an excellent press release for the returning restaurant. We're happy to share it with our readers:

Beloved local favorite D’Agostino’s Trattoria, known for its authentic Italian cuisine and warm, family-style hospitality, will reopen on Tuesday, Nov. 11, following a five-month remodel that has more than doubled its size and introduced a full wine and cocktail bar.

Located at 4155 S. Buffalo Dr #115, the expanded 4,000-square-foot trattoria now features 100 seats, a larger kitchen, and an eight-seat bar, where guests can enjoy handcrafted cocktails and a new daily happy hour from 4–6 p.m.

Owners Brandi and Dan Thompson

Owners Dan and Brandi Thompson, lifelong culinary artisans with deep roots in the Las Vegas dining scene, opened D’Agostino’s Trattoria in 2018 as a heartfelt tribute to Dan’s grandfather, Don D’Agostino, the family’s first-generation born in the U.S., and great-grandfather Giovanni D’Agostino, who immigrated from Reggio di Calabria, Italy, in 1904. The “D” family is represented on a family wall overlooking the dining room.

The restaurant serves dishes made from family recipes passed down through generations, and updated for today’s discerning palate, combining authentic Italian flavors with a welcoming atmosphere.

The happy hour menu includes small plates such as Italian sausage and peppers, fried zucchini with marinara and tzatziki, stuffed mushrooms al forno, pesto chicken egg rolls, arancini, and imported salumi and Italian cheeses. The menu will regularly update with Chef Dan’s signature selections.

Leading the new beverage program is Matt Guernsey, who crafted signature cocktails such as the Calabrian Spicy Italian Margarita, made with Calabrian chili oil, blanco tequila and a Tajín rim; and the Limoncello Drop, a bright and zesty twist on the classic lemon drop. Guernsey brings experience from acclaimed establishments, including Echo & Rig, Ramsay’s Kitchen at Harrah’s, and Majordomo Meat & Fish at The Venetian.

Adding to the drink offerings, D’Agostino’s has also launched its own exclusive craft beer, D’Agostino’s Craft Italian-Style Ale, brewed by Sockeye Brewery using malt imported from Veneto, Italy. Nicknamed “Papa’s Pilsner,” the beer pays tribute to Chef Dan Thompson’s father, Don Thompson, who, along with his mother Peggy, was instrumental in helping Chef Dan and Brandi establish their family business.

In a unique collaboration, artist Neal Portnoy of the acclaimed Portnoy Gallery will debut the first installation outside its main gallery—a “Wall of Fame” — in the new bar area, featuring caricatures of Las Vegas personalities and longtime patrons. Additional local artists represented include MAD Gallery’s Bryana Anderson, Matthew Murphy (Black57), and Robin Slonina.

For years, D’Agostino’s team, most of whom have been there since the beginning, have greeted guests as “familiga estesa,” or extended family, which will continue with the new expansion.

“Our old space was cozy but limited, and we wanted to create a place where more friends and family could gather,” Chef Dan Thompson said. “This expansion allows us to share our love of food, tradition, and hospitality with even more guests. Benvenuti alla nostra famiglia estesa, which means welcome to our extended family. We can’t wait to serve you.”

D’Agostino’s Trattoria will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 4–10 p.m. and offer catering during lunch hours and for off-site events.
