Carl Nassib made history earlier this year by coming out as the first openly gay player in the NFL, and the Las Vegas Raiders went out of their way to support him. Unfortunately for Nassib, he was cut from the organization last week, most likely because he only started five games last season racked up just four sacks and six tackles for a loss. That's just not enough to justify keeping him.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com, the move will save the Raiders eight million dollars of cap space and give them 32 million heading into free agency. That's a lot of money to play with, and while it came at the expense of Nassib, it will hopefully go to good use.
